This backpack kept coming up on my Instagram feed, and I was skeptical at first. But WOW, this bag has the best storage options I have ever seen in a backpack. The various pockets are very useful to prevent all my stuff from just going to the bottom of the bag. The front admin pockets are super helpful as well, which makes the bag even more appealing to me.
Some complaints I have are that the laptop sleeve could feel more protective. As well as sometimes feels like a squeeze when putting an iPad and a laptop inside that compartment. Another one is that none of the buckles are metal. They are plastic. Which is a downside for me, as well as the little D rings on the sides are plastic which is a no go for me.
Overall, this bag is great, I just wish the bag had metal straps and D rings.
Rip down quick access works great. Velcro for holding piece is solid and the included holster works, though obviously a fitted kydex would be better if you have one.
Rest of the zippers pockets seem intelligent and quality. Bag is comfortable to wear and adjusts appropriately.
I have been traveling for work for the better part of the last 15 years. When I say travel, I’m talking at least 70% of the time I’m on the road. I’ve gone through multiple bags and this Oono 3.5 is probably my favorite. Is it perfect? No, it’s missing a few key features (for me).
First, the numerous pockets, pouches, and places to tuck things are fantastic and fairly well thought out. The one pocket I don’t like is the larger front pocket (the one in my pictures with the books). The area at the bottom of the pocket, below the netting, is kind of wasted space and the items I store there impact the section right behind it. If that pocket stopped just below that netting, I think it would be an improvement.
The remaking sections are well thought out with plenty of storage. I would like to see the neoprene sleeve added to both sides of the back section/laptop area. I carry a laptop and two iPads when I’m on the road. The neoprene would help slide those items in and out. I find that the case on one of my iPads (a rubber of some type) seems to stick to the orange material. Not a huge deal, but a simple change would be a great improvement.
The other item I find wanting is a molle panel. Just a small one, on the front of the water resistant pocket, or vertical on one or both sides of the bag, would be great. I carry items on the outside of my bag (boots/shoes and a hard hat) and having some molle would be a nice place to hang those items. Plus, I can add more pouches as needed (a first aid kit for example).
These are small things that would be an improvement, but don’t let them distract you from the fact that this is a great pack. If you need a good travel bag, get this! Heck, I may even get one for my high school aged son, especially if Oono comes out with a version with the molle.
My only concern is how this pack will stand up to my travel. I’ve only had the back for about 2 months.
Well built backpack that can be your day today and your weekend bag
Been using a Dell backpack for a while. Decent storage options, just not large enough (and after 5 years it was starting to show its age).
Got the Oono to replace it, on paper it seemed to tick the quality box. In reality, while it does have heaps of storage options AND is plenty big enough for just about anything, even half full it isn’t very well balanced so you can really feel the weight in it. The main straps could be thicker/have more cushioning to help with this.
It does have the chest strap, most likely for this reason, but I’m never gonna use it.
Overall, really good bag, but not great.
I brought this new purchase of the black 20 L bag on a cruise. It was perfect. I had to pack a lot of heavy things in it and the straps and padding for my back kept it comfortable and cool.
I was very excited to get my new Oono V3.5 and when the bag arrived I was not let down. The marketing and reviews were spot on. This bag is everything I hoped for and more. A place for everything, and I mean everything! Very well balanced, top quality materials and zippers. Shoulder pads feel very comfortable and most of all, it just makes perfect sense. It’s been a few weeks now and the adjustment didn’t take long. I went from a single sling cross body tactical bag to the Oono and I could never go back. Already did an overnighter out of town and was able to put everything I need in the Oono plus toiletries and a pair of shoes. Heading out of town later this week and looking forward to packing for the plane ride up and back. If you carry your life around in your backpack then the Oono is the ONLY choice. The tech organizer bags are well made and easy to use. I also purchased the shave kit travel bag for an upgrade to make everything TSA carry on approved with some travel bottles from Amazon. Nothing but good things to say here!
This backpack passed my traveling test. Multiple laptops, pockets and containers for everything. Plus it rides high on my shoulders which is better for my lower back.
On our trip to Florida I surprised my husband with an early present, your Backpack 3.5. Wow was he pleased! I've never seen him so organized! He loved all the pockets and organization within those pockets. Also raved about how comfortable it was on his back as we ran through the airport. Just a great travel companion with our luggage.
The bag easily fits in the B-737 cockpit and in the passenger compartment under most seats.
I like the orange interior so I instantly knowing I accidentally left a pocket open. It’s comfortable when carrying it on your back.
For a pilot, there are a couple small tweaks I wish this company would implement.
1) The little zipper on the shoulder strap zips upward, as it rubs against bags, walls, and airplane floors, it easily unzips and anything in there falls out.
2) when you use the luggage strap on the back and connect the bag to your roller bag, the shoulder straps stick out and they are awkward to tuck in. It would be great if there was a pocket to stow those away when not carrying the bag in your shoulders.
3) I wish the lower outer pocket that can be used for wet items was slightly larger. It makes a great pocket for cold food if you have an ice pack, but it’s pretty small.
Good quality. Arrived on time … i love it ..
I have been using different bags for my carry on. My roller bag is great but not for tech and small items. If I use a shoulder strap briefcase it is too small/few flexible openings. This bag have me both in one. It is great for three days. I have size 15 shoes so you may get another day out of it!
I needed a bag that would help organize my travel for high-level gigs and this one is perfect. Just got back from Seattle with it and can’t wait to take it out with me on my next stop. I was really able to bring all that I needed because of it :)
Even more impressive once I got my hands on it. Trying to get my wife to get one too
Quality of the pack is better than expected. Pack is well balanced and comfortable when loaded. The separate organizers eliminate the need for extra storage pouches or containers. Wish the water bottle pocket was a little larger and on the other side.
Son loves his first Oono backpack! He used it right away on a weekend getaway with his fiancee! Now I’m planning on one for my future daughter in law. Great price with quick shipment.
A practical and smart carry for every day.
Clever compartments and pockets that stow, store and hide my gear.
I am very happy with this bag. I did have to wait a looong time to get it. I believe it was shipped from over seas, which was disappointing because I wanted it for a trip I had coming up. The bag is slightly over engineered, with too many straps and buckles, but it also seems like a quality bag that should last. I like how many pouches and pockets there are. Satisfies my organizational needs. All in all the bag was worth the cost and I'm happy. They need to work on their fulfillment though. Tough to wait over a month these days for shipment.
It's a fantastic bag. Replaced my aging Swiss Wenger bag for my work commute. It has all the right compartments for an engineer on the go. Large laptop, calculator, pen case, glasses cases, notebooks, and more.
Large zippers are robust and smooth to slide open. Comfortable to wear even when fully loaded. I can take my office with me with ease.
Perfect combo of an everyday and travel backpack.
5 stars for this backpack. I am using this as my new DJ backpack. There are so many little compartments to help with storage and transport of my laptop, chargers, cables / leads, gadgets, headphones, business cards, wallet, keys, and comes with a water bottle with its own dedicated pocket.
I don’t think I’m gonna find another amazing backpack as much as this benefit is I don’t know if there’s I could find another good backpack like this as much pockets as it has the versa ability of it so I’m not really sure but I’m gonna ride this back out until I can’t use it anymore but I really do love this backpack. It’s amazing backpack.
My two comments are perhaps a divider in the large main compartment. The front pocket that allows velcro patches should be deeper.
Thus far, I have found the quality of the backpack to be commendable. However, I have encountered a challenge regarding the placement of the shoe compartment, which is integrated with the storage section designated for clothing. This configuration, from a storage perspective, has the potential to significantly impact the overall user experience within the backpack. I would be interested in providing a comprehensive review one year from now, with a focus on the durability and my overall satisfaction with the backpack during extended use.
Need an everyday bag? This not it. Need a bag for an overnight trip? This is it. This is the bag that covers it all!
